Gandhi Decoded: Five Books That Reveal The Man Behind The Mahatma.

He is the most popular, the most hated and perhaps the most controversial political icon Modern India has ever had. Was Mahatma Gandhi a racist? A sexual weirdo? A person whose country was not ready for his brand of truth - be it non-violence or exercise in celibacy? His political strategy draws flak even now. His personal life and sexuality have been put under the scanner by countless authors and researchers. But that is only natural as hagiography is now passe and icons are decoded as per today's perceptions.

No one can dispute the larger-than-life role Gandhi had played in India's freedom struggle. But Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is not a millennial hero. He is a typical personality of his time (1869-1948), but with a political and social vision that still finds relevance in a post-colonial world. We may or may not agree with the authors and their views mentioned below, but here are five most interesting titles that put Gandhi in a completely different light. Be ready for the shockers and happy reading!
