Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has said that he wants to make MPs and MLAs from people living in slums. Speaking at a rally in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, the young leader promised that his party will bring youths into politics. "I want to make MLAs and MPs from jhuggis and jhopris," he said.
Slamming the BJP for its tall claims, he said, "BJP talks about India shinning. But we say we make roads and airports. UPA has made three times more roads than NDA was able to make."

Emphasising on the importance of people above projects, Gandhi said, "Now we are going to empower the poor and youths. This country is not made by roads. It is made by the people."
Accusing the saffron party of engineering the Muzaffarnagar riots, the Congress leader said, "BJP thought without dividing people they will not succeed so they engineered riots. A policeman told me about the fire which was fuelled in Muzzafarnagar. We have to douse that fire."

Coming down heavily on the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in the state for not developing Indore on the lines of other metropolitan cities, Gandhi said, "Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune became commercial capitals because these cities were connected with the rest of the world. People were given opportunities. These places were made by the people of these states. They were only provided with infrastructure."

Castigating the BJP government in the state for not being able to improve the plight of Indore even after 10 years of rule, Rahul Gandhi promised that Indore's name would figure among top five commercial capitals in the country if people vote for the Congress.
Making strong pitch for the party in the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, Gandhi said, "Bring the Congress government and then we will utilise funds properly and work on infrastructure and generate employment. You should dream big, nothing happens with small dreams. Some factories will not serve the purpose."
