Mumbai: The Asian Heart Institute where RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has been admitted, on Tuesday said a cardiac surgery was needed, based on preliminary medical investigations.
"Laluji is fundamentally a healthy person, as can be seen from the intense campaigning he has done. Based on preliminary reports, we can now confirm that a cardiac surgery is needed," Dr Vijay D'Silva, Medical Director, Asian Heart Institute, said in a statement.
"A few reports are pending. The details of what kind of surgery is needed, will be available to us only after these reports come in. We will issue another update by 7 PM," it added.
The 66-year-old leader was hospitalised at the Institute on Monday for a scheduled detailed medical evaluation.
