Hike LPG prices by Rs.250 and diesel by Rs.5, says Kirit Parikh Committee


The Kirit Parikh Committee wants the government to raise price of diesel by Rs.5, kerosene by Rs.4 and LPG by Rs.250. The report was presented to Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Veerappa Moily on Wednesday.

The panel also wants quota of subsidised LPG reduced from nine cylinders to six per household.  The panel has sought a fixed subsidy of Rs.6   

per litre on diesel and deregulating diesel price in a year.
The panel also recommended fixed subsidy of Rs.6 per litre on diesel while favouring deregulation of 

diesel price in a year's time.

The expert group was tasked to suggest a methodology for pricing of diesel and cooking fuel.
