Are You Ready For Indian Political League?
I P L
The nation is currently in the midst of poll fever. However, IPL is soon to become a summer staple as well when it kicks off next week. We decided to put in the best players from the political arena in the Twenty-20 format of the game to see who would make it the team, irrespective of their current political parties. Here are our chosen Indian Political League players.
Narendra Modi - Captain

Well, this one is a non-brainer really. The man is a workhorse and certainly knows how to rally his troops. He also seems to know what he's doing considering his phenomenal rise in the RSS and BJP. Add to that his viperine tongue is enough to make other captains fear him. For strategy and execution, there's hardly a better politician-captain than Narendra Modi.
Arvind Kejriwal and Jaswant Singh - Openers

Arvind Kejriwal and Jaswant Singh both have a point to prove. The former has taken upon himself to be Sachin Tendulkar and embody the masses, even finding the kind of support and success that the ex-cricketer did. Singh, on the other hand, who is contesting elections from Barmer as an Independent candidate after leaving the BJP, has his credibility to worry about. Both these batsmen will let the bat do the talking if given a chance in the Indian Political League.
Kapil Sibal, Shashi Tharoor and Ashok Chavan - Batsmen

These three Congress stalwarts have taken a bit of a beating lately and Ashok Chavan has even joined the Bad Boys Club of Corruption. But for sheer presence of mind and survival instincts, these three deserve to be the batsmen of the team. Kapil Sibal can manage social media to show the team in positive light while Ashok Chavan can 'build' an Adarsh reputation even as Shashi Tharoor takes lessons from the failure of the Kochi league.
Kumar Vishwas - All rounder

Every team needs an all-rounder and this team needs Kumar Vishwas. He can bat for his team on the most challenging ground (read Amethi) and yet manage to sing in his throaty broken voice as if he was a rockstar. Yes sir, we need all-rounders like Kumar Vishwas to confuse and befuddle the opposition.
Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rahul Gandhi - Spin bowlers

Nobody really understands what they say or do. While Lalu has used obfuscation as a key political card and knows the merits of having a trick or two up his sleeve, Rahul Gandhi is like Kachra from Lagaan who cannot not speak in riddles. Better spinners are not to be found anywhere else in the political arena.
Nitish Kumar and Varun Gandhi - Fast bowlers

Nitish Kumar seemed untouchable at one point. But his ambitions to be the next Prime Minister meant that a lot of people suddenly deserted him before the elections. Varun Gandhi, on the other hand, seems torn between his family and his party and needs to run dedicatedly towards either one of them. One can safely assume that with the amount of catching up both these politicians have to do before being taken seriously, they have a lot of running around to do. Who better than them to be the fast bowlers of the team?
L K Advani - Retired hurt

Well, we can't comment on this because clearly this seemed like the Indian Political League's captain was calling the shots.
