The United States has not blacklisted or banned Narendra Modi and the Indian Government would strongly take up his case with the Administration if his visa application is denied next time.
Authoritative Indian sources said Modi has neither sought an US visa after he was denied one in 2005, nor he has asked for the help of the Indian Government in this regard.
“I think, if any (Indian) Chief Minister wanted to go (to US) and applies for his visa and asks us (Indian Government)to take it up (with the US), we will take it up,” sources said.
“To my understanding he (Modi) has not been banned. So there is really no need to take it up” the sources said.
In 2005 after Modi was denied a US visa on the issue of post-Godhra riots, Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, had said that the Indian Government is ready to help, if Modi wants.
“To my knowledge, he has not sought (help of Indian Government),” the sources said requesting anonymity.
