Will Sheila Dikshit accept Arvind Kejriwal's challenge for a public debate ahead of Delhi Assembly polls?

Sheila Dikshit and Arvind Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal has told Headlines Today that he will write to Sheila Dikshit early next week officially inviting her to participate in a public debate ahead of the Delhi assembly elections. Sheila Dikshit had told Headlines Today in an interview last week that she was willing for a public debate with Arvind Kejriwal. The Delhi CM had said, "Let Arvind Kejriwal write to me officially, laying out the format and the terms and conditions and I will look into these. I am not shy of a political debate. I have debated with Sushma Swaraj in the past. Public debates are healthy in a democracy."
Speaking to Headlines Today after his press conference at the constitution club on Friday Arvind Kejriwal said, "I will write to Sheila Dikshit early next week. I did not know she was waiting for my official letter. I will write to her and tell her that she can decide the terms and conditions. I am prepared to debate her at any time and any place. We can decide on a mutually acceptable anchor and structure the debate in any way that she likes."

All the latest opinion polls show Delhi heading for a hung assembly.

While voters would relish the prospect of an American style public debate, the key question is whether Sheila Dikshit would accept the challenge being posed by Arvind Kejriwal.

Delhi is waiting and watching.
